"Once fired brass" is previously fired brass. It is brass, once it has been fired. Although a lot of once fired brass has only been fired one time, some may have been fired multiple times. It is the quality of the brass that matters most.

There are two trains of thought when it comes to reloading brass. Set self impose limits, reloading only X amount of times or reload until visible failure. Common limits range from 4-6 with endless amounts of brass being loaded 10 plus times.
